Q and A with Avro FC

Avro FC play in the North West Counties Premier Division...

They are one of many community clubs based across Greater Manchester.

We got in touch with Mark Hutton, First Team Secretary of Avro FC, and asked him a few questions about his club and how they are doing during these unprecedented times.

Q) How long have you been involved with Avro FC

I've been involved at Avro since 2017.

Q) What’s been your highlight? Favourite game etc

The main highlight was getting back to back promotions into the NWCFL Premier Division (Step 5) In terms of standout games there's been quite a few, but beating Irlam 5-0 on Boxing Day was a great team performance against one of the consistently best sides in the division, and showed the progress we have made

Q) How has the club dealt with the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic?

We've tried to be as positive as possible, with no football we have used the time to make ground improvements including a new clubhouse and Sponsors lounge. We've also got Oldham Athletic using our 3G to train, and their youth academy team are based at our ground, so we've definitely not stood still, and hopefully will be able to hit the ground running when we can start playing again.

Q) How was the club doing before the league got suspended?

We were top of the NWCFL Premier Division with 16 points from 8 games played.

Q) Are there ways in which people can help at the club?

We are always on the look out for new volunteers, whether for match day or generally. If you want to get involved in a friendly, family club that is going places, then we'd love to have you. No skills required!

Q) Aside from the first team, what other teams does the club operate (academy/women’s team etc)

Besides the first team we have our reserves in the Manchester League and then 10 teams from age U7 to U21 so we offer the chance to progress from U7 all the way to semi pro all under the umbrella of Avros.
