Legendary Player Profiles: Mike Summerbee

Next up in our legendary player series is a Manchester City legend

Summerbee is often regarded as one of Man City's greatest ever players and was a key element of their successful side in the the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Major honours with City

He had amazing success and won a number of different trophies:

  • Second Division champions: 1965–66
  • First Division champions: 1967–68
  • FA Cup winners: 1969
  • League Cup winners: 1970
  • European Cup Winners' Cup winners: 1970

City stats

He played in 452 games for City and scored 68 goals.

In 2004, he was inducted in Man City's Hall of Fame.

Friendship with George Best

Summerbee was very good friends with the Manchester United legend George Best. The pair co-owned a menswear business.
