Reaction: Manchester United held at Southampton

This is the place for all the reaction as Manchester United were held away at Southampton

An own goal from Fred had given the home side the lead but Mason Greenwood earned United a point with a strike on 55 minutes.

Watch and listen below to see what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had to say in his post match press conference after his United side drew 1-1 with Southampton at St Mary's.

Media reaction

Shamoon Hafez at BBC Sport said that Manchester United started the season in blistering fashion but lost their 100% record in just their second game and, in truth, it was a poor showing on the south coast.

Ben Fisher from The Guardian added that if anything encapsulated a trying afternoon for Manchester United, it was the sight of Paul Pogba being booked for a crude challenge as the clock ticked into second-half stoppage time, seconds after the Southampton striker Che Adams made a superb sliding tackle on Bruno Fernandes.

Fan reaction

As always after a Manchester United game, fans took to social media to put across their own opinions.

Yoni Marlow on YouTube said: "The game was crying for Donny. He would legit solve the issue we have in breaking teams, just needs a run of games. But Ole prefers playing two CDMs when a team seats deep against us. Makes no sense."

This United fan remembers the start of the ultimately successful 1992/1993 season. In the first three games of that season, Man United picked up only one point after three games but were crowned champions in May.

Player reaction

Paul Pogba tweeted: "Keep pushing. Keep going. #MUFC."

Bruno Fernandes added: "Disappointing result today. We will react next weekend. Thank you to all the fans for the amazing support. #mufc
