A crowd of just under 3,000 saw Bolton Wanderers beat Port Vale 3-2 in an entertaining Football League Trophy match
Bolton started the tie on the front foot against the League Two side and Nathan Delfouneso did well to move into a pocket of space and thread a pass through into the path of Eoin Doyle who dragged a shot across goal and wide of the target.
The first goal of the night came just before the half-hour mark and was a goal that began with hard work and was finished with real quality.

Within 15 minutes though, Port Vale were 2-1 up. Goals from Conlon and Amoo gave Port Vale the lead at half-time.

Bolton were back level within ten minutes of the second half. Rodney scuffed a shot wide in the early stages of the second half after Delfouneso had previously lost possession in a dangerous area of the field. It was the Bolton attacker who found the equaliser shortly afterwards.
Oladapo Afolayan then got what proved to be the winner with just thirteen minutes to go. This ultimately earned Bolton their first win of the Football League trophy campaign.
