What happened?
These were truly dark days for Manchester City. At full time, they were booed off and there were even reports that Curly Watts of Coronation Street had left his seat in disgust!
City's manager at full time said: ""If they can't take the pressure of coming to play Stockport County, then we really have got problems!"
Match highlights from a memorable afternoon for Stockport County
Did you know that?
Did you know that Paul Cook, a former Wigan Athletic manager, was playing for Stockport County that day?
I was there when Paul Cook scored a belter at Edgeley Park when Stockport County beat Man City 3-1 in late 90s. Amazing to see him get one over them again! #wafcvcity #WiganvManCity

The aftermath
City did manage some revenge in the return fixture and beat Stockport 4-1, however at the end of the season they were relegated again.
It really is hard to imagine City being in the 2nd tier of English football, never mind the 3rd!
