The first leg is being held at  the Allianz Stadium in Italy because of restrictions on travellers from the UK entering Spain.

United will be hoping to go one better than last season and reach the final. They do have several players with injury concerns ahead of the first leg. The reds are going to be without Edinson Cavani, Donny van de Beek and Paul Pogba .

With all those injuries, a score draw (meaning a potentially crucial away goal) might be deemed a good result for United.

Sociedad are fifth in La Liga and have former United player Adnan Januzaj in their squad.

Some Stats

Sociedad and United have only met twice previously, in the 2013-14 Champions League group stage. United won 1-0 at Old Trafford, while it was a goalless draw in Spain.

United are winless in their last nine European matches against Spanish opponents (drawn 3 lost 6) since a 1-0 win over Celta Vigo in the first leg 2016-17 Europa League semi-final.

The second leg will be played at Old Trafford on 25th February and like the first leg will be broadcast on BT Sport and will have no fans in attendance.

First leg review!

It turned into a comfortable evening for Man United. Two goals from Bruno Fernandes, one from Marcus Rashford and another from Daniel James saw United cruise to a 4-0 win.

Ole Solskjær told The Guardian: "We deserved to win but maybe not by four goals. On a night like this when we find spaces we can be a dangerous team."
