Bolton Wanderers Need Win To Guarantee Promotion

The stakes are high for Bolton Wanderers this weekend as they travel to Crawley

A victory will assure Bolton of an automatic return to Sky Bet League One. They face Crawley Town John, who are 12th in the table, are safe from relegation and aren’t able to land a play-off spot.

Bolton could have earned promotion last week but a late winner from Exeter City means Bolton still have work to do.

One Bolton fan commented:

Same old problem, not scoring enough when we are on top. Cannot rely on the defence to keep a clean sheet every week. Exeter came back well second half and with both teams going for the win at the end it was always risky. One more chance next week at Crawley.

Ahead of a huge weekend, Bolton goalkeeper Matt Gilks spoke with their website about how it will prove to be a tough game despite their opposition having nothing to play for.

It is a danger because they play with a bit more freedom and there is nothing on it for them so they can try things they wouldn’t normally do.

"That is always a danger and I can’t see them rolling over because Bolton are coming to town, they are going to spoil our party, while we want to make one.

Elsewhere in League Two

Salford City are one of the form teams in the league, having picked up 16 points from their past eight games going into the final day. However, the Ammies must win to have any chance of a play-off spot. Their last game finished in a 1-0 defeat against Colchester United.

Salford's Ian Henderson has recently been named League Two player of the month for April.
