Whilst most of the country were preparing for the Euro 2020 final, Avro and New Mills fans were watching a fairly entertaining pre-season encounter.
Avro's winning run in pre-season came to an end away at New Mills after a 1-1 draw.
New Mills began the game the stronger of the two sides as they dominated possession and had Avro on the back foot.
Avro responded well to New Mills' early goal and began to create chances and win corners, one being Louis Potts winning a corner after having his shot saved, another being Jack Tuohy's shot which narrowly went over the bar.
The game then stopped for a quick drinks break and briefing before re-starting for the last 20 minutes of the 1st half.
New Mills took back control of the game, winning free-kicks in dangerous positions and creating dangerous chances, one saw the New Mills player pulling off a nice skill to get past his man before putting the ball across the 6-yard box with no one in it.
But Avro held on, and went into half-time 1-0 down, but with plenty still to play for.
Avro came out in the 2nd half eager to make up for the first half performance and scoreline, and that was the case as Avro dominated the home side and had them on the back foot.
Avro nearly equalised through Jack Tuohy, who got his head on a free-kick but couldn't get it past the keeper.
After withstanding waves of chances and pressure, New Mills slipped up and gave Avro a penalty when they handled the ball in the box as Oumar Camara challenged for the ball.
Liam Ellis stepped up and slotted it past the goalkeeper to make it 1-1.
New Mills then became desperate to take back their 1 goal lead - with them hitting a thumping shot from far outside the box, which went wide of the goal.
Liam Ellis very nearly made it 2-1 just before the 2nd half drinks break as Jack Tuohy crossed it in, but he was inches away from getting a touch on it..
The game then began to fizzle out, with neither team really creating anything in the last 10 minutes.
