Manchester United's Pre-Season Campaign

The Manchester United players that weren't involved in the European Championships or Copa America have already returned for pre-season training.

United have five friendlies lined up, starting with a visit to Wayne Rooney's Derby County this weekend.

Here's their full pre-season schedule as it stands:

18 July: Derby County v Manchester United (Pride Park)

United's last meeting against Derby County was a 3-0 away win in the FA Cup. There has been some classic games between the two teams over the years. Under Frank Lampard in 2018, Derby knocked United out of the League Cup.

24 July: QPR v Manchester United (Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium)

Loftus Road, now known as the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium, has been a favourite away ground for Manchester United fans for many years. Their last visit was a 2-0 win in 2015.

28 July: Manchester United v Brentford (Old Trafford)

It is somewhat unusual to play a team in the same league during pre-season. This will be a useful test for United against a team that is newly promoted.

Can Brentford survive and thrive in the Premier League?

31 July: Preston North End v Manchester United (Deepdale)

The last meeting between these clubs was an FA Cup match in 2016. United won 3-1 on that night.

7 August: Manchester United v Everton (Old Trafford)

Everton now have Rafa Benitez as manager. This has caused some anger on the blue half of Merseyside due to his connections with Liverpool. The last meeting between these two clubs finished in a 3-3 draw after Everton scored a dramatic equaliser.
