Avro 0-1 Prestwich Heys

Avro fell to their first home defeat of the season at the hands of local rivals Prestwich Heys.

Avro, still suffering from injuries picked up during the Runcorn Linnets game, had new signing Isaac Modi on the bench.

Avro started well, immediately creating a chance for Jack Tuohy - Potts gave the ball to Tuohy who ran into the box but fired the ball straight at the keeper.

Avro kept up their pressure though, Danny Byrnes and Ryan Pickford down the wings being key for Avro.

Play was stopped 15 minutes in when Brad Sixsmith went down with a head injury and had to be substituted.

Pickford very nearly scored when he went past 4 Prestwich players but was hacked down before he could continue and Avro won a free-kick. Half-time then went and it was Avro 0-0 Prestwich Heys, in a half dominated by Avro.

At the start of the second-half, Morrow gave the ball to Potts who fought off the defender and got a good shot away, considering the angle.

On 66 minutes, Issac Modi was subbed on for his debut in place of Danny Byrnes.

Prestwich began to have some chances, but nothing that quite challenged Latham.

Not long after coming on Modi started a good chance for Avro by getting past a Prestwich player, switching it to Afuye on the left, who powered past 2 Prestwich players before putting it across the face of goal just for no one to get on the end of it.

Prestwich went 1-0 up with just 10 minutes left thanks to Jack Coop. James Dwyer played Coop through who was met by Latham but slotted it past him.

Avro put all their effort into finding an equaliser but it was to no avail.
