Onto the actual match
Terry Venables' England team delivered a true masterclass to beat the Dutch 4-1.
Alan Shearer and Teddy Sheringham both scored twice as Guus Hiddink's team were blown away
It was the quality and the stylish manner of the win that drew praise all over the country and sent the nation into wild celebration.
The thoughts of someone who was there...
"What made this performance and result so good was that it was kind of unexpected...
"We had not even qualified for the 1994 World Cup and had been very poor in the first game against Switzerland.
"In the previous game, we were also poor at times but Gazza's goal against Scotland seemed to lift the players and fans.
"It's just a pity that we couldn't round off the summer by winning the competition"
